Our 2020 training season starts Monday, March 9th at 6:30PM at Glen Oak Park in Lewis Center, OH., however you can join anytime during the year. We meet in various locations so you will want to join the club to get access to all dates, times and locations. We have open runs on Monday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
We provide training plans ranging from 10-20 weeks to ensure you have plenty of time to properly train for your specific race. Group runs are informal so you can follow our training plans or your own.
Before starting a half marathon training program, we recommend that you be able to run 2-3 miles and have run at least 6 months consistently with 12 months preferred. This ensures that your muscles, bones and joints have had time to adequately strength.
Absolutely! Our plans work with any half marathon you choose to run. You can train for any race you wish and still have people to train with. We are a perfect fit for those training for the Air Force Half Marathon, Emerald City Half Marathon and others.
Sure. We will not be providing "official" coaching for the marathon this year, but you are welcome to come run with us. We hope to offer marathon training in the future as the club grows.
Race fees are not included. You can register for the Columbus marathon on their website.
We feel that proper training and having the support of other runners and walkers should be available to everyone. We are not in it for the money. Our coaches are volunteers, yet certified through USA Track and Field or the RRCA. Our guest speakers are licensed physical therapists, registered dietitians, and certified fitness trainers who volunteer their time. Everyone who helps run this club volunteers their time and in some their own money. To minimize this, we try to rely on sponsors and member donations to help offset the costs involved, and we are always looking for creative ways to raise money. If you are interested in volunteering a few hours each month (or whenever you can), please let us know! We need all the help we can get!
We don't, but our coaches do! Contact us for more information!
